The official name is Casa Milà, named after Pere Milà i Camps, the Catalan politician who commissioned it. The nickname by which everyone knows it, La Pedrera, comes from the facade: in Catalan, it means "quarry," and it wasn't exactly a compliment. The Spanish-language audioguide accompanies you through the different areas of the building, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. You'll explore the Gaudí Space, which serves as an interpretation center for the architect, the exhibition halls, and the courtyards. On the fourth floor, you'll find a recreation of a bourgeois home from the early 20th century, with the furniture and layout of the time. The highlight is on the roof. The rooftop offers views of Barcelona, and the chimneys on the upper terrace have that silhouette that inspired the Imperial walkers in Star Wars, which is why it's the most photographed spot in the house. The audioguide lasts about 90 minutes. After finishing, you can continue exploring the building on your own, revisiting the areas or exhibitions that interested you the most. Barcelona will be the World Capital of Architecture in 2026, and this is one of the places that justifies that title. What you gain by buying in advance: You avoid the ticket line, although you still have to go through security to enter. And you save the 1 EUR per person fee that is applied when purchasing at the building's ticket office. The nighttime version: There is also a nighttime tour with a show: a guided tour with an audiovisual projection on the rooftop chimneys and a glass of cava. These tickets are non-refundable.
