Bellesguard Tower with a guide: Gaudí's masterpiece of straight lines
Ratings collected by Tiqets
The Bellesguard Tower is the work where Gaudí did the opposite of what is expected of him: here, he worked with straight lines, something he had hardly practiced before. He built it between 1900 and 1909 on the site of a medieval castle that belonged to Martin I of Aragon, the last king of the Catalan dynasty, and that is where its Gothic fortress-like feel comes from. What is interesting is what came out of this project: several of the solutions that he would later apply in the Sagrada Família were first tested here. The name is not misleading: "bellesguard" means "beautiful view" in Catalan, and from the top, you can see the entire city of Barcelona. It receives very few visitors compared to the rest of his works, so you can explore it at a leisurely pace. A note about reservations: you can cancel up to the deadline indicated.
