Colonia Güell and Gaudí's crypt: a two-hour guided tour

The meeting point is on Carrer Gaudí Güell, in Santa Coloma de Cervelló, on the outskirts of Barcelona. From there, a two-hour guided tour of the Colonia Güell begins. The colony was a complete industrial town, with its houses, its services, and its factory, built specifically away from the city. The tour addresses the two questions that everyone asks upon arrival: who lived here, and why did someone think it was a good idea to build an entire town for their workers. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The second part is Gaudí's crypt, the church he designed for the colony. It was a testing ground for the Sagrada Familia: here, he experimented on a small scale what he would later apply to the temple, starting with the inclined columns. The commission had a declared intention: to bring art and culture to the workers of Catalonia, and the guide explains how this was achieved.
