Dutch-style bike tour in Barcelona: from Sant Jaume to El Born, with a view of the Sagrada Familia
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
BarcelonaA guided bike tour that connects the major points of Barcelona without turning it into a simple list. It starts in the old town, where the narrow streets explain how the city and Catalonia were formed, and continues with the works of Gaudí, including the Sagrada Família. Along the way, you'll see the Arc de Triomf and the Parc de la Ciutadella. The guide is local and will tell you about the history behind each place, including hidden corners that you wouldn't find on your own. The bikes are Dutch, comfortable, and have high handlebars. The pace is relaxed, and there's time for photos and questions. The starting point is the shop on Carrer de l'Arc de Santa Eulàlia, in Ciutat Vella, near the Liceu metro station.

Carrer de l'Arc de Santa Eulàlia, 1, Barcelona
The store is located at Carrer de l'Arc de Santa Eulàlia, 1, 08002 Barcelona, in the Ciutat Vella district, near the Liceu metro station. It's on a narrow street between Carrer de Ferran and Carrer de la Boqueria, opposite the church of Sant Jaume. Look for the yellow sign.
Plaça de Sant Jaume
Plaça de Sant Jaume is the heart of Catalan political life and has witnessed the key moments that shaped Barcelona and Catalonia. The City Hall and the Palau de la Generalitat face each other directly: the latter was specifically built for the Catalan government and remains its headquarters, which is quite rare in Europe.
Barrio Gótic
You'll cycle through the medieval streets of the Barri Gòtic, the historic heart of Barcelona, discovering hidden squares, Roman ruins, and centuries-old buildings. The guide will also provide recommendations for you to return on your own and explore the neighborhood at your own pace.
Catedral de Barcelona
We stopped at the Barcelona Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture, located in the heart of the old city. The guide shared its history and its role in the city's identity, and we had time to photograph the facade and the square surrounding it.
Paseo de Gracia
It opens onto Passeig de Gràcia, the city's most expensive avenue and the modern face of Barcelona, featuring top-quality architecture, luxury shops, and several of Gaudí's most famous works.
Casa Batlló
The Casa Batlló, one of Antoni Gaudí's most significant works, is visible. Gaudí, the architect who shaped the cityscape of Barcelona and spearheaded Catalan Modernism, transformed architecture into something entirely new, and this building exemplifies that transformation.
Casa Amatller
Next to the Casa Batlló is the Casa Amatller, designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The contrast between the two buildings reveals the competition among architects that transformed Passeig de Gràcia into what it is today.
La Pedrera - Casa Mila
The tour continues to La Pedrera (Casa Milà), another masterpiece by Antoni Gaudí and a symbol of Catalan Modernism. The undulating stone facade and sculpted balconies break with the architecture of its time. When you see it, you understand where the nickname "La Pedrera" (the quarry) comes from. The guide recounts the history of the building and shares interesting facts about it.
Basílica de la Sagrada Familia
Stop at the Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí's most ambitious project in Barcelona. Its towers and intricately carved facades have become a symbol of Catalonia and one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. The guide will explain the meaning behind the project and why it has been under construction for over a century. Afterwards, you will have 10 to 15 minutes of free time to admire the details and take photos.
You've probably heard of bullfighting...
Bullfighting is one of the most debated traditions in Spain. The tour takes place at La Monumental, the former bullring in Barcelona, and the guide explains the rituals and symbolism surrounding the practice, its significance in Spanish culture, and why it is no longer held in Catalonia.
We will ride directly towards the majestic Arch of...
You cycle towards the Arc de Triomf, one of Barcelona's most photographed monuments. The palm-lined avenue gradually brings you closer until the red brick structure fills your entire view. It was built as the main entrance to the 1888 World's Fair. There's time to admire it up close and take pictures.
Parc de la Ciutadella
A walk through Parc de la Ciutadella, a park located in the city center. The Monumental Cascade, with its palm trees and sculptures, is one of the most photographed spots in the city. Along the way, you'll find historical pavilions and remnants of the site's military past, now transformed into a park.
El Born Centre De Cultura I Memoria
You enter the Born neighborhood and stop at the Center for Culture and Memory, where, beneath a large iron and glass structure, the remnants of 18th-century Barcelona are preserved. From the walkways, you can see the streets and houses of a city that no longer exists. The guide explains what happened here and why this site still holds so much significance in Catalonia.
El Born
The final stretch takes us through the narrow streets of El Born, one of Barcelona's most vibrant neighborhoods, with its cafes, small shops, and excellent cuisine, where tradition and modern life blend seamlessly. Before we finish, it's a good time to ask the guide for recommendations on where to eat.
