Visiting the Sagrada Família without a guide

15 experiences, with an average price of €67, and an official ticket for €26, which almost no website includes in its pricing.

Of the six ways to enter the basilica, this is the one with the fewest options: 15 experiences and 1,673 reviews, compared to the 23 tours that include a tower visit, which have accumulated 104,419 reviews. The difference isn't about interest; it's about the distribution channel. The construction company reserves the sale of the ticket without a guide to its authorized distributors, and this is noticeable when you look at the numbers: in the catalog of a single provider, out of 512 products related to the Sagrada Familia, only two are tickets for entry without a guide. They cost €49 and €54.90. The official ticket costs €26.

So, this page does something that isn't beneficial for an affiliate but is beneficial for you: it displays both figures on the same line and explains in which cases it makes sense to pay the higher amount.

There's a second thing that's important to understand before looking at prices, and it applies to all fifteen. At the Sagrada Família, you enter with a scheduled time slot: the time is printed on the ticket, and those who arrive late will not be admitted later. That's why "fast access," "no queues," and "priority entrance" here describe something that is already standard. The only queue you avoid is the one at the ticket office, and the ticket office doesn't exist: the organization only sells tickets online, and it states this in its frequently asked questions.

Why is this list the shortest of the six?

A reseller cannot sell what they are not given. The construction company distributes the basic ticket through a small number of authorized distributors, and the rest of the market receives the product already packaged with something extra: a proprietary audio guide, a guide waiting in the square, transportation, or a combination ticket with Park Güell. This explains the strange nature of this category, where the price range goes from 3 to 195 € and the median price is 67.

The €3 option is not an entry ticket. It's an audio guide that allows you to explore the three facades from the outside, and it's quite good for what it is, but it doesn't allow you to enter. The options ranging up to €15 offer a variety of things: some include the audio guide, some include someone who will accompany you to the entrance, and some even include the tower itself in the ticket price. It's worth reading carefully what each option includes before comparing prices, because at first glance, they might seem like the same thing at different prices, but they often aren't.

Official rates set by the Construction Board, verified on sagradafamilia.org on August 25, 2026. Students pay the same rate as those under 30.
Input General Under 30 Retired employees Under 11 years old
Basic, with an audio guide app€26.00€24.00€21.000 €
With guided tour€30.00€28.00€23.000 €
With access to a tower€36.00€34.00€28.000 €
With guided tour and tower access€40.00€38.00€32.000 €

From that table, we can draw two quick conclusions. The first: the tower costs 10 € exactly in both versions, with or without a guide, and it's the only price on the list that doesn't change. The second: there is a rate for people under 30 years old that applies to all four tickets, with two euros less for each. It's not a spectacular discount. But it's money, it's requested without any paperwork, and in the twenty-seven pages of promotional material we reviewed in August 2026, none of them mention it.

"No lines" doesn't describe anything here

The justification for the price markup is almost always the same, and one of the resellers writes it in black and white. Civitatis sells "Tickets for the Sagrada Familia with audio guide" for 39.99 €, and on the same page, it claims to offer "tickets at official prices," with exceptions in "less than 5% of cases," because they include administrative fees or audio guides. The official ticket with audio guide costs 26.00 €, and the audio guide is included. The advantage it advertises is avoiding "the queue at the ticket offices."

That queue doesn't exist. On their FAQ page, the organization states that tickets can only be purchased online, and the QR codes around the temple simply lead to that same website. There's no ticket booth to avoid. And the queue at the entrance, which does exist, works the same way: you enter during your designated time slot, along with the other people who purchased tickets for that same slot, regardless of whether you paid €26 or €55.

A review published on the same page summarizes it better than I could: "The price is very high for what the audio guide offers."

Tickets can only be purchased online.

The ticket is in your name

The tickets for the basilica are nominative: at the access control, they require an ID card or passport, and the data cannot be modified after purchase. This is a minor detail until the day you reserve four tickets for people whose identities you still don't know.

The official sale opens approximately two months beforehand, and that's all the lead time you have. During peak season, the mid-morning slots sell out weeks in advance, and that's where a resale platform stops being about price gouging and becomes the only way to get in that day. That's the honest argument in favor of buying here, and almost no one uses it because it sounds underwhelming.

You can reach the site by metro, getting off at the Sagrada Família station, which is served by lines L2 and L5, and is within walking distance of the construction site.

The fees that the official website hides

The basilica's pricing page displays the table shown above and stops there. However, there is a second, much longer price list that is not on that page; it is embedded within the details of each individual product, so even someone searching for "Sagrada Familia prices" won't find it. We checked on August 25, 2026, and this is what we found.

Large families and single-parent families receive a 50% discount, which can be requested with 48 hours' notice to a specific email address. The "Carnet Jove" (youth card) also offers a 50% discount. Unemployed individuals pay 10 €, but only on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and only with a valid DARDE document. Ten euros is also charged with the ICOM card and with a press card. The "Ruta del Modernisme" offers a one-euro discount. And there is a promotion called "WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU" that offers a 50% discount on admission for those who reside in Barcelona, non-cumulative, with the same 48 hours' notice.

None of these conditions are mentioned in the twenty-seven pages of industry documentation that we reviewed, and that's understandable: a reseller cannot apply them. Neither can we. That's why they are written here, and not on a button.

Interior de la Sagrada Família de Gaudí: los bancos de la nave bajo las vidrieras verdes y azules y las columnas arborescentes

Starting February 2, 2026

The first hour is no longer what it used to be

All the guides recommend the nine o'clock slot because there are fewer people, and the light comes in from the side of the Nativity scene. From February 2, 2026, that time is different: the basilica has established a period of silence between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, with mandatory headphones and no conversation allowed inside the temple.

It depends on what you're looking for, and there's no one-size-fits-all answer. If you're there to observe, this is the best time this building has seen in years. However, if you're going with children, or with someone you plan to explain things to, you might want to choose a different time.

None of the commercial websites or travel guides we reviewed in August 2026 mentioned it, and it had been in effect for six months.

It closes at 6:00 PM on Saturdays

The basilica's opening hours change three times a year: from November to February, it's open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM; in March and October, it's open until 7:00 PM; and from April to September, it's open until 8:00 PM. On Sundays, it opens later, at 10:30 AM, because there is a service beforehand.

The anomaly occurs on Saturdays. It closes at 6:00 PM for all twelve months of the year, regardless of the season, and it is the only day that behaves this way. No product information mentions this. Anyone who schedules something for a Saturday in July, expecting it to be open until 8:00 PM, will find themselves standing in front of a closed door with a valid entry on their mobile phone.

The official duration of the basic visit is one hour, and one and a half hours if it includes the tower. Travel guides usually state two hours or more, which is how long it takes for those who take their time. The audio guide provided by the regional government is available in 19 languages plus sign language, in two versions of 45 and 25 minutes, and is not adapted for children under ten years old. That last piece of information is not mentioned by any reseller, and several sell audio guides.

Things to consider before making a purchase

Is it worth buying here, or on the official website?

If all you want is to get in, start with the official website: €26 compared to the €67 average price on this page. Come back here if your preferred date or time is sold out, which often happens during peak season, or if you're interested in a condition that the official website doesn't offer, such as free cancellation, which several platforms do provide. There's no justification for paying twice as much for the same ticket, at the same time, and through the same entrance.

What exactly is "quick access"?

A commercial ticket. You enter within your assigned time slot, whether or not the product name is printed on the ticket, and within your time slot, there will be other people in front of you doing the same thing. What would be considered skipping the ticket line at other monuments is meaningless here, because tickets are only sold online. If a product charges for "priority access," you are paying for a condition that is already included with any ticket.

What is the absolute cheapest option available?

The standard ticket is 26 €, which includes the audio guide app. For those under 30 years old, it's 24 €; for senior citizens with ID, it's 21 €; and for children under 11, admission is free. The 3 € product listed here is not a ticket; it's an audio guide that covers the three facades from the outside and does not go through the door. Disregard it before drawing conclusions about how inexpensive this category is.

Do you need to bring your ID card?

Yes. The tickets are personal and require identification (ID card or passport) for entry. The information on the tickets cannot be changed after purchase, so it's important to enter the names correctly the first time. If you are purchasing tickets for multiple people on a platform, double-check whose name is on each ticket before paying, and don't wait until the morning of your visit to do so.

Can it be purchased the same day?

Usually, it's either in November or January. From April to October, it's almost never available at the time that's convenient for you. The official ticket sales open about two months in advance, and the morning slots are the first to sell out. Showing up without a ticket and hoping to get one at the box office on the day is the surest way to miss out and end up buying the first thing that's available, which is usually the most expensive option.

If you're going to pay more than 26 euros, it should be for something worthwhile

On the official channel, the difference in price between the basic ticket and the one that includes access to the tower is exactly 10 euros. It's the only extra feature of the basilica that can be seen from the street, and it's also the one that often leaves people with regrets: you go up in an elevator and descend on foot via 504 steps.
