Modernism at 3:00 PM, with a purple umbrella: Batlló, La Pedrera, and Sagrada Família
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
BarcelonaGaudí didn't appear out of nowhere. At the end of the 19th century, Barcelona demolished its medieval walls and experienced a period of cultural expansion that left an entire generation of painters and architects working simultaneously in the city. This walking tour explores that modernist side: the life and work of Gaudí, but also what his contemporaries were doing on the same streets. It lasts two and a half hours and takes you through the Eixample district, which functions as an open-air museum. You'll see the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera from the outside, learning about the origins of each building and the stories they hold, and it ends at the Sagrada Família, tracing the history of the temple from its beginnings to the present day, including the years of the dictatorship. The tour starts at Plaça de Catalunya, in front of the Apple Store, at 3:00 PM, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The guides carry a purple umbrella. It ends around 5:30 PM. There is a reservation fee of 3 € to secure your spot, and tips for the guide are separate. All sales are final.
