Free guided tour of the exterior of the Sagrada Familia: the three facades
Ratings collected by Civitatis
The corner of Mallorca Street and Marina Street. This tour does not enter the temple: it remains outside, and that is its purpose. The three facades of the Sagrada Familia tell three distinct stories, and they can be read from the street without needing to enter. The meeting point is in the vicinity of the temple. The first stop is the Nativity Facade, the only one that Gaudí saw completed. Organic shapes, fruits, animals, and sculptures are scattered across the stone. The guide explains why he decided to start precisely here and what each decorative element means. Next, the tour moves to the Passion Facade, dedicated to the last days of Jesus. The shapes are angular, and the figures are expressive, even unsettling. It appears more recent than the previous one, and there is a reason: it was built after the architect's death, following his plans. The third facade is the Glory Facade, still under construction, which will be the main entrance. Here, the tour discusses the technical challenges it presents and what it means for the neighborhood to live with a project that has been open for decades. Along the way, the tour also discusses Gaudí's life, his spirituality, how he worked, and what he left behind in subsequent architecture. The tour lasts between one hour and an hour and a half, and ends outside the basilica. The order of the stops may vary for organizational reasons. Groups of more than six people are not allowed, nor are reservations split across multiple bookings. If the tour is canceled after confirming the reservation, a percentage of the amount will be refunded. If you do not show up, there will be no refund.
