The two Gaudí works most people want to see, the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, with skip-the-line access on a private tour. The guide picks the group up at the hotel or apartment, and from there the city unfolds along the way: the history, the architecture and the places that don't appear in quick guidebooks. The Sagrada Família and Park Güell are the two long stops, and between them you cross half of Barcelona. Since it's private, the tour adapts to the group: you can linger where it interests you and skip what doesn't. It's the difference between seeing Barcelona and seeing it your way.

What's included

  • Transportation in a private vehicle
  • Professional guide
  • Tickets for Park Güell & Sagrada Familia
  • Pick-up and return to your accommodation in Barcelona

  1. Parc de Montjuic

The day begins on Montjuïc mountain, offering a panoramic view of the city. This mountain historically served to defend Barcelona from attacks. Today, it houses the Miró Foundation and the CaixaForum, and these, along with other buildings, provide a good understanding of what modern art and contemporary architecture meant here. Montjuïc also retains traces of the urban planning and buildings constructed for the 1929 International Exposition.

  2. Las Ramblas

To reach the coast, you pass through Las Ramblas, the city's most famous avenue.

  3. Port Vell Barcelone

The route reaches the coastline, passing by the Columbus Monument and the Gothic shipyards. Around the beach area, you'll find more modern architecture, including the World Trade Center and the renovated Port Vell. The old port retains its character and is now full of restaurants, nightlife venues, and shops.

  4. Monument a Colom

I walked past the Columbus Monument, the tall column dedicated to Christopher Columbus that marks the lower end of La Rambla.

  5. Barrio Gótic

A stroll through the Gothic Quarter, one of the districts of Ciutat Vella, the old town. In Ciutat Vella, where the history of Barcelona began, the modern blends with Roman and medieval remnants. Here, you can learn about Catalan traditions and the origins of the city as you wander through corners, squares, and narrow alleyways.

  6. Plaça de Sant Jaume

The Plaça de Sant Jaume, one of the main and oldest squares in the Ciutat Vella (Old City), is well worth a stop while exploring the Gothic Quarter.

  7. Catedral de Barcelona

Standing in front of the Gothic cathedral in Barcelona, which serves as the seat of the city's archbishopric.

  8. L'Eixample

A drive through the Eixample district, the neighborhood designed by Ildefons Cerdà in 1859 to expand the city. In Catalan, "eixample" means "expansion." As you drive through its streets, you can see just how revolutionary and utopian his urban planning ideas were.

  9. Paseo de Gracia

I walked along Passeig de Gràcia, admiring the most recognizable examples of Catalan architecture. This avenue is home to some of the most notable modernist facades: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló by Gaudí, Casa Lleó Morera by Domènech, and Casa Amatller.

  10. Casa Batlló

The colorful facade of Casa Batlló is one of Gaudí's houses that most surprises when viewed from the street.

  11. La Pedrera - Casa Mila

The undulating facade of Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is a work by Gaudí that stands out for its daring design.

  12. La Mansana de la Discòrdia

I walked past Casa Lleó Morera, a modernist building designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and the neighboring Casa Amatller.

  13. Basílica de la Sagrada Familia

Before the final stop of the day, you'll reach the Sagrada Família, Gaudí's masterpiece and the landmark most associated with Barcelona. It's difficult to describe the feeling of entering this temple of Modernism. The organic motifs throughout the structure, the light filtering through the stained glass windows, and the symbolic weight of the sculptures on the facade are often what visitors remember most.

  14. Park Güell

Stopped at Park Güell, overlooking the Gràcia neighborhood. The park's architecture draws inspiration from the forms found in nature. There are narrow, winding paths, like rivers of lava, covered with columns shaped like trees, stalactites, and other geometric forms.
