Barcelona and Sagrada Familia in half a day: private minivan and hotel pickup
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
BarcelonaHalf a day to see Barcelona and visit the Sagrada Família, designed for those who have limited time and don't want to miss the main attractions. The transportation is done in a private minivan, with pick-up and drop-off at the hotel, so you don't waste time on public transportation or looking for a meeting point. The guide connects the places you visit with the history and customs of the city. The central part is the Sagrada Família, with access without queues: you can see Gaudí's masterpiece from the inside, calmly, without the wait to enter. The group consists of 8 people. With that number, the guide can talk to everyone, and the minivan can move around the city center without the problems of a larger bus.

Barrio Gótic
The day continues with a walk through the medieval old town. You stroll through the Gothic Quarter, which is where the history of Barcelona begins, and you learn about Catalan traditions and the origins of the city while passing through courtyards, squares, and narrow alleys. The layout is a labyrinth of streets that date back to Roman times. On top of that foundation, you can see centuries of medieval and Gothic architecture, and how an ancient city became the one that exists today.
Las Ramblas
The tour continues towards the waterfront, passing through well-known places like Las Ramblas, arguably the city's most famous avenue, which is full of bars, restaurants, and shops.
Mercat de la Boqueria
Along the way, on Las Ramblas, you'll pass by La Boquería, the city's most famous covered market. You'll see the main entrance and the bustling activity of the market from the minivan.
La Barceloneta
I walked through Barceloneta, once a neighborhood of fishermen and people connected to fishing and the metal industry, and now one of the most visited districts. Its narrow, straight streets follow a grid pattern: the neighborhood was built to house the former residents of La Ribera who had lost their homes due to the construction of the Ciutadella park.
MUHBA Temple d'August
In the Gothic Quarter, one of the city's best-kept secrets can be found. Within a small medieval courtyard, the four columns of the Temple of Augustus still stand. They are over 2,000 years old, just like Barcelona itself.
Catedral de Barcelona
I walked past the Barcelona Cathedral, whose facade blends Romanesque, Gothic, and Neo-Gothic styles because it was built over six centuries. It was funded by donations from medieval guilds and religious brotherhoods. Construction of the Santa Creu section began in 1298 and was completed around 1890, following the original plans and incorporating Neo-Gothic elements.

Placa Sant Felip Neri
The Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, somewhat worn and very photogenic, is a corner of the Gothic Quarter that shouldn't be missed. It is dominated by the Baroque church that gives it its name and retains several historical elements that make it unique.
Parc de Montjuic
The tour begins on Montjuïc mountain, offering a panoramic view of the city. The mountain historically served to defend Barcelona from attacks. Today, it houses the Miró Foundation and the CaixaForum, and these, along with other buildings, provide a good understanding of what modern art and contemporary architecture were like here. You can also see examples of urban planning and architecture that were created for the 1929 International Exposition.
Paseo de Gracia
Along the way, you'll cross Passeig de Gràcia, home to the most recognizable examples of Catalan architecture. This avenue boasts some of the most notable modernist facades, including La Pedrera and Casa Batlló by Gaudí, as well as Casa Lleó Morera and Casa Amatller by Domènech.
Casa Batlló
Standing in front of the facade of Casa Batlló, with its vibrant colors and intricate details, which make it one of Gaudí's most recognizable works.
La Pedrera - Casa Mila
The undulating facade of Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is a work by Gaudí that stands out for its daring design.
Basílica de la Sagrada Familia
The life's work of a genius or a madman, the Sagrada Família leaves its mark. You enter to see the work of Gaudí, the building with which Barcelona is identified. It's difficult to describe what one feels when crossing the door of this modernist temple. The organic forms of the entire structure, the light filtered through the stained glass windows, and the symbolic load of the sculpted façade are what one remembers from the visit.
