Casa Amatller: Enjoy the chocolate house without the queues

The Casa Amatller is next to the Casa Batlló, and many visitors walk past it without entering because they are focused on the building next door. Antoni Amatller Costa (1851-1910), a master chocolatier, lived here, and the house was built with his money and for that lifestyle. It was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, one of the three architects who shared this block on Passeig de Gràcia, and the one who is least well-known outside of Barcelona. The facade is the first thing you notice: it features dragons, knights, and other figures from legends, with a stepped upper section that is unlike anything else nearby. The entrance is without queues and includes an audio guide, so you can explore at your own pace. You can cancel up to the deadline indicated.
