Entrance to the Güell Colony, with an audio guide available in nine languages

Gaudí's crypt is one of his least-visited works, and not for lack of merit: it lies outside Barcelona, inside Colònia Güell, which leaves it off the typical weekend itineraries. It was commissioned by the industrialist Eusebi Güell as the church for his industrial colony, with the aim of bringing art and culture closer to the workers who lived there. Inside you can see the century-old arches, the colored materials and a set of columns that are all different from one another, each tilted according to the load it bears. It is the same naturalistic logic that later reappears in the Sagrada Família, here on a smaller scale. The ticket includes an audio guide in nine languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese and Korean. Besides the crypt, you can explore the colony's various spaces, a quiet place without crowds. Opening hours From May to October it opens from 10:00 to 19:00, and on weekends and public holidays from 10:00 to 15:00. From November to April, from 10:00 to 17:00, with the same reduced hours on weekends and public holidays. Free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.
