Explore Modernism on foot, with a tapa and a drink, from Plaça Catalunya to the Sant Pau Recinte
A walk through the Modernism of Barcelona that starts at Plaça de Catalunya and ends where almost no one goes: the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Between the two, you walk up Passeig de Gràcia, stopping to take a closer look at the "Mansana de la Discòrdia," where three architects built door to door, and La Pedrera. Along the way, you pass through a local market used by residents, not tourists. Then, you take the metro to the Sagrada Família. There's time to admire it calmly from the outside, and the guide indicates the best spots for taking photos. Next, a stop at a local bar: a tapa and a drink are included, and you can sit down. The tour ends at Sant Pau, the former Modernist hospital designed by Domènech i Montaner, with its brick and mosaic pavilions just a few minutes' walk from the basilica.
