Family Mosaic Workshop: A workshop for two adults and two children, ages 3 and up
A trencadís workshop designed for parents and children to do together, with places for two adults and two children. It grew out of a specific gap: in Barcelona there are hardly any activities where children make something real instead of just watching. Here everyone works, from age 3. You learn to use the tools, choose the base and the colors, and assemble the piece. You can choose from several objects: a photo frame, a box, or an animal figure. The technique is the same one Gaudí left all over Barcelona, and after doing it with their own hands, children don't forget who he was. The workshop is led by an artisan who in 2016 was awarded the master artisan diploma by the Generalitat de Catalunya for her work with and promotion of trencadís. In 2019 she collaborated with Casa Batlló on the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers project The Restoration of Casa Batlló, from Inside to Beyond Its Walls.
