Barcelona and Montserrat in the same day, with pickup from the hotel and transportation in a private vehicle for a group of 8 people. The mountain portion takes you to Montserrat, where the guide explains the history of the area, what it represents for Catalonia, and how that rounded rock formation was formed. There, you will visit the monastery, with a stunning view over the valley. Back in the city, you will visit the Sagrada Família, the basilica designed by Antoni Gaudí, which has been under construction for over a century. In a single day, you experience both: the cultural center of Barcelona and the landscape of Montserrat, without having to organize two separate excursions.

  1. Parc de Montjuic

We ascended Montjuïc mountain to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. The tour guide pointed out the Olympic facilities built for the 1992 Barcelona Games, such as the Olympic Stadium and the Palau Sant Jordi. We also passed by the Miró Foundation, and there was time to relax in one of the hill's gardens, away from the noise of the city center.

  2. Las Ramblas

The tour continues towards the waterfront, passing by well-known landmarks: Las Ramblas, La Boqueria Market, the Columbus Monument, the Museum of Catalan History, and the Old Port of Barcelona.

  3. Barrio Gótic

The day continues with a walk through the medieval old town. You stroll through the Gothic Quarter, where the history of Barcelona begins, and you learn about Catalan traditions and the origins of the city as you pass through corners, squares, and narrow alleys. There's a stop at Plaça Reial, one of the most lively spots in the old town, and at Plaça Sant Jaume, with the City Hall and the oldest and best-hidden corner of the city center, dating back to Roman times. Afterward, through a maze of streets, you reach Plaça del Rei and the Gothic cathedral. Along the way, you'll find small squares that have marked the city's history, and the Call, the old Jewish quarter, one of the best-preserved areas in the center.

  4. Placa Reial

The Plaça Reial, located in the Gothic Quarter, is one of the city's main gathering places. It's right next to La Rambla and is especially lively at night, with many restaurants and some of Barcelona's most famous nightclubs.

  5. Catedral de Barcelona

The Barcelona Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Eulalia, was built between the 13th and 15th centuries and continues to impress with its Gothic architecture.

    Costo extra

  6. Placa Sant Felip Neri

The Plaça de Sant Felip Neri is a small square in the Gothic Quarter, located in the Ciutat Vella district. It is named after the Church of Sant Felip Neri, which stands at its center.

  7. Paseo de Gracia

Back in the car, we drove through the Eixample district, the neighborhood that Ildefons Cerdà designed in 1859 to expand the city. We passed by Passeig de Gràcia, where you can see some of the most recognizable examples of Catalan architecture: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló by Gaudí, Casa Lleó Morera by Domènech, and Casa Amatller.

  8. Basílica de la Sagrada Familia

The life's work of a genius or a madman, the Sagrada Família leaves its mark. You enter to see the work of Gaudí, the building with which Barcelona is identified. It's difficult to describe what one feels when crossing the door of this modernist temple. The organic forms of the entire structure, the light filtered through the stained glass windows, and the symbolic load of the sculpted façade are what one remembers from the visit.

  9. Abadia De Montserrat

Road to the Montserrat mountain. This natural park, with its rounded peaks, holds a significant part of what Catalonia considers its own. For almost 1,000 years, a Benedictine community has lived here, 60 km from Barcelona. The visit includes the Montserrat basilica, where the Moreneta, the Black Virgin, the patron saint of Catalonia, is located. It is a Romanesque polychrome sculpture from the 12th century. Along the way, the guide explains the relationship between Catalonia and this mountain, a destination for pilgrims since ancient times and part of one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela.

  10. Montserrat

The group of 8 people decides whether or not they want to take the cogwheel railway to the top of the mountain. The journey offers beautiful views along the way.
