Private tour of the Sagrada Família and Montserrat, with pickup from your accommodation
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
BarcelonaBarcelona and Montserrat in a single day, privately, without having to choose between the city and the mountain. The guide picks up the group at their accommodation in Barcelona, in a private vehicle reserved only for those traveling together. During the journey, they discuss the history of the city, Catalan culture, and what Montserrat represents, which is much more than just a beautiful mountain. Next, they visit the Sagrada Família, Gaudí's masterpiece that is synonymous with Barcelona, and there, the explanation goes into detail: how the building is designed and why it has been under construction for over a century. The tour alternates between well-known sites and others that don't appear on the lists, and along the way, you gain a better understanding of where all of this comes from.

Parc de Montjuic
The day begins on Montjuïc mountain, from where you can see the entire city. The mountain historically served to defend Barcelona from attacks. Today, it houses the Miró Foundation and the CaixaForum, and these, along with other buildings, provide a good understanding of what modern art and contemporary architecture meant here.
Port Vell Barcelone
After Montjuïc, the route descends to the coast, passing by the Columbus Monument and the Gothic shipyards. Around the beach, you'll find more modern architecture, including the World Trade Center and the renovated old port. Port Vell retains its character and is now full of restaurants, nightlife venues, and shops.
Barrio Gótic
A stroll through the Gothic Quarter, one of the districts of Ciutat Vella, the old town. In Ciutat Vella, where the history of Barcelona begins, the modern blends with Roman and medieval remnants. Here, you can learn about Catalan traditions and the origins of the city as you wander through corners, squares, and narrow alleyways.
L'Eixample
The tour continues by car through the Eixample district, the neighborhood designed by Ildefons Cerdà starting in 1859 to expand the city. In Catalan, "eixample" literally means "expansion." As you drive through its streets, you can see just how revolutionary and utopian Cerdà's urban planning ideas were.
Basílica de la Sagrada Familia
The guide then takes the group to the Sagrada Família, Gaudí's masterpiece and the landmark with which Barcelona is most closely associated. It's difficult to describe the feeling of entering this temple of Modernism. The organic shapes of the entire structure, the light filtered through the stained glass windows, and the symbolic significance of the sculpted facade are often the most memorable aspects of the visit.
Paseo de Gracia
The route also passes through Passeig de Gràcia, the upscale avenue known for its most recognizable Catalan architecture. Here you can admire some of the most notable modernist facades, including La Pedrera and Casa Batlló by Gaudí, as well as Casa Lleó Morera and Casa Amatller by Domènech.
After visiting Barcelona
After Barcelona, the road climbs towards the mountain of Montserrat, offering a close-up view of this natural monument and allowing you to understand its significance for the people of Catalonia. Its 4,000-foot height is immediately recognizable by the jagged ridge of the summit, which is the origin of its name.
Abadia De Montserrat
Visit the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, nestled in a landscape that stands alone, and take a walk around the surroundings. The area was declared a Natural Park in 1987, and the views are unparalleled. The Holy Cave is also well-known, where the Virgin is said to have appeared, represented by the Romanesque sculpture of La Moreneta. Since then, the place has been a center of pilgrimage and prayer. At the end of the tour, with Barcelona and Montserrat already seen, the guide returns the group to their accommodation.
