BarcelonaIn the afternoon, light enters the Sagrada Família from the west, the side of the Passion Façade, and the stained glass washes the columns in red, orange, and amber. That is the moment this tour is named after. An official licensed guide accompanies the group, which is limited to ten people. At that size nobody has to crane their neck to hear or wait their turn in front of a window: questions are answered as you go, and the group sets the pace. Access is priority, so the entrance line is not part of the plan. Inside, the commentary focuses on what Gaudí conceived and why his church still looks like no other: columns that branch like trunks at different heights, a vault that stands without Gothic buttresses, façades that read like pages. The basilica is part of the group of works by Antoni Gaudí inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The guide also places the basilica within the history of Barcelona and the architect's career, so the tour doesn't end with the building.
