Small group tour to Comillas and El Capricho, departing from Torrelavega

Four hours in a small group, with departure and return in Torrelavega. The meeting point is in front of the Municipal Pavilion "La Habana Vieja." From there, we travel to the western coast of Cantabria, to Comillas. At the beginning of the 20th century, this town was one of the summer destinations for the Spanish high society, and almost everything you see there dates back to that era. The first stop is the former Major Seminary, now the home of the University of Comillas. It's located on a high point, and from there, you can see the Sobrellano Palace with a perspective that you can't get from below. Next, we visit Villa Quijano, also known as "El Capricho." It was commissioned by Máximo Díaz de Quijano, a Spaniard who had made his fortune across the Atlantic, and that origin explains a lot about the house: those who could afford to commission a "capricho" (whim) from Gaudí were not exactly the local nobility. Upon leaving, we take a panoramic tour of Comillas by minibus, passing by the sculpture of the "Angel Exterminador" and the fountain of "Los Tres Caños." Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
